Toyota and Lexus Recall Alert: Is Your Sienna, NX, Land Cruiser or RAV4 Affected?

Recent Toyota and Lexus recalls involve second-row seatbacks, missing dashboard warnings, fuel leaks and unexpected loss of driving power. Certain Sienna, Lexus NX, Land Cruiser and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid vehicles are included—but these are four separate campaigns with different affected vehicles and remedies.

Start with your model below, then check your vehicle identification number. A matching model year does not automatically mean your vehicle is included, and a previous recall repair does not establish that a newer campaign has been completed.

Which Toyota and Lexus Vehicles Are Being Recalled?

This roundup covers selected campaigns announced in October 2026. It is not a complete list of every open Toyota or Lexus recall, and these campaigns were not all announced on the same day.

Vehicle Model Years Concern NHTSA Campaign Manufacturer Campaign
Toyota Sienna Hybrid, certain seven-passenger versions 2022–2026 Second-row seatbacks may unlock during certain crashes 26V690000 26TB24 / 26TA24
Lexus NX 250, NX 350, NX 350h and NX 450h+ 2022–2024 Instrument display may omit important warnings 26V687000 26LA10
Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 2024–2027 Fuel-tube connection may separate and leak 26V673000 26TB23 / 26TA23
Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid 2026 Control-unit error may reduce or shut down driving power 26V659000 26TA22

Check the vehicle, not just the headline: Equipment, production history and VIN determine inclusion. “RAV4 recall” does not mean every gasoline, hybrid and plug-in RAV4 has the same problem.

Toyota Sienna Recall: Second-Row Seatbacks May Unlock in a Crash

The Sienna campaign lists 228,367 potentially involved vehicles. It concerns certain seven-passenger 2022–2026 Sienna Hybrids with affected second-row seat assemblies.

Under specific frontal-crash conditions, seat-belt pretensioner activation can cause the recliner mechanism to disengage. A seatback that does not remain locked may provide inadequate occupant restraint.

What Is the Remedy?

Toyota’s filing describes an SRS control-unit software update being developed for most involved vehicles. Approximately 200 vehicles equipped with the Mobility as a Service package instead require replacement of both second-row seatbacks. The planned notification window is December 7–21, 2026.

Can You Keep Using the Second Row?

Ask Toyota for the current seating instructions for your VIN before continuing to carry passengers there. Explain whether you use child restraints or need every seating position.

For Canadian vehicles, Transport Canada explicitly states that Toyota advises against carrying passengers in the second row until the repair is completed. That is Canadian guidance; U.S. owners should obtain campaign-specific instructions from Toyota rather than assuming that every market’s notice is identical.

Do not improvise a seat repair. A seatback feeling secure during ordinary use does not establish its performance in a crash. Do not disconnect restraints or modify seating hardware to work around the recall.

Lexus NX Recall: The Dashboard May Fail to Show Important Warnings

This campaign concerns certain 2022–2024 NX variants fitted with affected software in the 7-inch instrument display.

A startup error can leave areas blank, potentially preventing oil-pressure, coolant-temperature or electrical-charge warnings from appearing when needed. This concerns the instrument cluster, not simply a navigation or entertainment-screen inconvenience.

How Many NX Vehicles Are Included?

U.S. reporting describes more than 63,300 vehicles. The manufacturer’s filing lists 68,356 potentially involved vehicles and explains that not all were sold in the United States. Those figures describe different populations.

What Is the Fix?

Lexus dealers will provide a free combination-meter software update. The filing lists a December 7–21, 2026 notification window and mentions a possible future over-the-air option for supported vehicles. Do not assume an automatic update has completed the recall.

Source: Lexus NX recall filing, 26V687. The U.S. count is described in Cars.com’s October 26 coverage.

If your display is malfunctioning, contact Lexus for instructions. Do not interpret missing warnings as proof that the underlying vehicle systems are operating normally.

Toyota Land Cruiser Recall: A Fuel Connection May Leak

The Land Cruiser filing lists 105,794 potentially involved 2024–2027 hybrid vehicles, while noting that not all were sold in the United States.

A connection between a plastic fuel tube and a metal tube could disconnect. Escaping fuel near an ignition source increases fire risk.

What Will the Dealer Repair?

The remedy involves inspecting the connection and installing a supplemental clamp. If necessary, the plastic fuel tube will also be replaced. The filing schedules owner notifications between November 29 and December 13, 2026.

Fuel smell, visible leakage or smoke needs immediate attention. Stop safely, switch the vehicle off when safe and move away. Do not restart a vehicle with a suspected fuel leak. If there is fire or immediate danger, call emergency services.

A fire-risk description does not automatically establish a blanket park-outside instruction. Follow the notice for your VIN and ask Toyota whether towing or parking restrictions apply. See when a fire-risk recall means parking outside.

Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Recall: Power Can Drop at Higher Speeds

Toyota’s October 7 announcement covers approximately 31,000 model-year 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrids in the United States.

A fault in the plug-in hybrid system’s electronic control unit can cause the system to shut down while driving. Losing driving power at higher speeds increases crash risk.

What Is the Remedy?

Toyota says dealers will update the affected ECU software at no charge and that owners will be notified by early December 2026. Ask the dealer whether the update is currently available for your VIN.

Does This Include Every RAV4 Hybrid or RAV4 Prime?

No. This particular campaign identifies certain 2026 plug-in vehicles. Older RAV4 Prime models, conventional hybrids and gasoline RAV4s need their own VIN checks for applicable campaigns.

If a power-loss warning appears, follow the vehicle’s instructions and move out of traffic safely if possible. Do not rely on repeated restarting as proof that the problem has been repaired.

How to Check Whether Your Toyota or Lexus Is Affected

  1. Find your 17-character VIN. Check the dashboard through the windshield or your registration.
  2. Use the official manufacturer lookup. Visit Toyota’s recall and service-campaign lookup, which covers Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles intended for the U.S. market.
  3. Check NHTSA. Use NHTSA’s recall lookup to review open safety campaigns.
  4. Save the result. Record the campaign number and instructions.
  5. Contact the appropriate dealer. Ask about remedy availability, interim precautions and appointment timing.

Toyota’s recall announcements list customer support at 1-800-331-4331. Lexus owners can also contact their Lexus service department directly with campaign 26LA10.

What if the VIN Search Shows Nothing?

A newly announced campaign may take time to appear against every identified VIN. If you received a notice or have conflicting information, ask the manufacturer or dealer to confirm the status.

A result showing no unrepaired recalls is not a mechanical inspection. It also does not mean the vehicle has never had a recall.

Should You Wait for the Letter?

No. You can check eligibility and ask for instructions now. A planned mailing date is not a guarantee that parts, software or appointments are available—and it is not permission to disregard an interim restriction.

Who Pays for Recall Repairs, Towing and a Rental?

The campaign remedies described here are provided at no charge. Additional expenses require separate confirmation.

  • Towing: Ask the manufacturer or dealer to authorize arrangements before booking.
  • Rental or loaner: Request assistance and confirm the approved vehicle, rate and duration.
  • Previous repairs: Keep itemized invoices and ask whether the campaign’s reimbursement process applies.
  • Unrelated maintenance: Review and approve it separately from the free recall work.

For families, a replacement vehicle needs enough suitable seating—not simply an available set of keys. Tell the dealer how many passengers and child restraints you must accommodate.

See who pays for recall repairs and towing, rental assistance during a do-not-drive recall and reimbursement for a repair paid before a recall.

Questions to Ask Before Your Appointment

  • Which open campaigns apply to my VIN?
  • What should I avoid doing until the repair?
  • Is the remedy available now?
  • Does my vehicle need software, hardware or both?
  • Should I drive in or arrange transport?
  • What assistance is available if I cannot use the vehicle normally?
  • Will the repair order identify the completed campaign?

Keep the final invoice even when the total is zero. If an app continues displaying the recall afterward, ask the dealer to confirm completion and whether the status update is pending.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Toyota cars have been recalled recently?

The selected October 2026 campaigns covered here involve certain Sienna Hybrids, Land Cruiser Hybrids and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrids. Other Toyota campaigns may apply to your vehicle, so check the VIN.

Which Lexus SUVs are included in this roundup?

Certain 2022–2024 NX 250, NX 350, NX 350h and NX 450h+ vehicles with affected instrument-display software. This is not a recall of every Lexus SUV.

Are these all 2026-model vehicles?

No. A recall announced in 2026 can cover vehicles from several model years. The table lists the years associated with each campaign.

Are the Sienna seat recalls all the same?

No. Campaigns can involve different components and remedies. Completing an earlier seat-related repair does not automatically complete campaign 26V690000.

Does a software remedy mean the problem is minor?

No. Software can control safety-critical equipment. The appropriate remedy depends on the cause, not how alarming the repair sounds.

Can I keep driving a recalled vehicle?

Follow the current instructions for your VIN. Do not assume every recall requires stopping, or that every vehicle remains safe to use normally. Ask specifically about driving, seating, parking and transport restrictions.

Which brand has the most or fewest recalls?

This roundup cannot establish that ranking. Campaign counts, vehicles affected and unrepaired vehicles measure different things. A meaningful comparison needs a defined period, market and method.

Were these recalls announced today?

No. They are separate October 2026 campaigns summarized here as of October 30. Check official sources for announcements made after this update.

What if there is no fix available yet?

Request interim instructions, a case number and information about transportation assistance. A delay does not automatically establish a right to a buyback. Read recalls with no available fix and possible buyback options.

Check the VIN, Then Get Instructions for Your Vehicle

A reliable reputation does not replace a recall check. Find out which campaigns apply, ask what precautions to take and arrange the remedy when available.

For Sienna families, clarify passenger-seating instructions. For NX owners, address missing dashboard information. For Land Cruiser and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid owners, report fuel-leak or power-loss symptoms promptly rather than waiting for a letter.

This is a selected U.S.-focused roundup, not a complete live recall database. Canadian guidance is identified separately. Campaign populations, remedy availability and owner instructions may change; confirm current information for your VIN.
